The strategic focus of the society is formulated in the so-called Agenda 2020. The goal is a more effective utilization of the region's excellent research environment in order to strengthen the economic power of the area.

Focal points of the Agenda 2020 are:

• the promotion of innovation transfer regionally and nationally
• the expansion of the infrastructure for research and development
• the initiation of partnerships with other leading international centers of health research
